The Importance of Relaxation.
Can you relax?
Life in the 21st Century is full of responsibility and distraction. Our waking lives often seem to be a torrent of family, work and social requests or pressures. Our minds are full of what we feel we “should be doing” for those around us and time to ourselves shrinks into the corner of a room full of social media, worrying nightly news and the things we want to do, but haven’t. It’s no wonder that many people have forgotten how to relax.
Relaxation and Hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a wonderfully relaxing therapeutic tool. It may be that when you go into Hypnosis at Assisi Therapy, you are experiencing the relaxing calm of the hypnotic trance for the first time. You may already know how good Hypnosis feels. The most important thing to realise is that you will experience just as much as you want and only as much as you need. And so, it is easy to see why the path to relaxation is something everyone can reclaim as part of their hypnotherapy.
The Hypnotic trance, is often likened to the hypnogogic state that people experience just before they fall asleep. Whilst hypnosis is not sleep, it may feel close to it, or perhaps like the trance sensation you might experience when teeth brushing, driving or taking a shower. My aim is to help the brain to relax to a point where your whirling conscious mind can take a break and your subconscious mind can develop new learning or reinforce past understandings that help you.
Hypnosis & your Familiar World.
At the peaceful Assisi Therapy space in Salisbury, we will only use hypnotic techniques after discussing them with you. The whole process relies on your understanding and wanting to be hypnotised. So if the time isn’t right or the problem too close, sometimes hypnosis may not be the best approach for you. That being said, a large number of clients will benefit from relaxation hypnosis or even visualisation and relaxation techniques that may be familiar from other fields like Mindful Meditation or Yoga.
When you go into trance for the first time, you may see some familiar elements from other parts of your life. This simply demonstrates that relaxation is a personal process and we will take time to build your relaxation together.
What is Therapy & Counselling?
Many people have an idea of what therapy is like because they have seen it depicted on television or in films. You make have seen someone lying on a couch or talking to an “Expert Therapist” who nods knowingly. This can be a reality for some people, but the truth is that the only expert on how to be you, is you. Your therapy at Assisi Therapy in Salisbury can include Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy or Counselling and the only thing that influences the balance of these approaches, is what is best for you.
