Hypnotherapy and Phobia.

Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that uses artful relaxation and suggestion to help people overcome their fears and phobias. It is also highly effective at combating the causes and symptoms of Phobia, stress, anxiety and sleep problems.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis, or a natural trance-like state, to help people change their behaviour, thoughts, emotions, and physical well-being.

During hypnosis, a person is usually awake but feels relaxed and has a heightened sense of suggestibility. This state is very like the one you will find yourself in just before sleep or just as you wake up. In this natural state, a Hypnotherapist can make suggestions to the person that will help change their behaviour or relieve symptoms of a condition.

Because our brains are constantly filtering out information, it is common for us to create a version of reality that is negative and harmful and which differs from actual events. The use of visualisation techniques in trance is a very effective tool used at Assisi Therapy to help convince the brain that it has experienced a positive version of the event, situation or behaviour that is causing you a problem.

The effect of hypnotherapy can be so fundamental that clients who undergo hypnotherapy may also be more open to suggestion during other forms of psychotherapy. It is for this reason that Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy go hand in glove at Assisi Therapy.

If you are considering hypnotherapy to help you overcome your problem, it is important to find a qualified therapist who has experience in treating these conditions. Assisi Therapy’s accreditation from of a range of professional bodies can give you confidence that the hypnotherapy you receive, will be lasting and wholly beneficial.

What is a Phobia?

Phobias are one of the most common mental disorders in the West. Phobias can be debilitating, preventing sufferers from living a full and healthy life.

A phobia is an intense fear of something that poses no real threat. People with phobias may experience anxiety even thinking about the thing they fear. Phobias can be divided into three categories: specific phobias, social phobias, and agoraphobia.

Specific phobias are fears of particular objects or situations, such as snakes, heights, or flying. People with specific phobias go to great lengths to avoid their triggers.

Social phobias are a fear of being judged or evaluated negatively by others in social situations. Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is characterised by extreme anxiety or fear of social situations and interactions with other people. This fear can lead to avoidance of work, school, and other activities.

Agoraphobia is a fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or embarrassing, or help might not be available if needed- such as being in a crowd or on a bridge. Agoraphobia often leads to avoidance of public places and large open spaces.

While there are many different types of phobias, some of the most common include fear of heights (acrophobia), fear of flying (aerophobia), fear of enclosed spaces (claustrophobia), and fear of spiders (arachnophobia).

What types of fears and phobias can be helped with hypnotherapy?

There are many types of fears and phobias that can be helped with hypnotherapy. Some of the more common ones include:

• Fear of flying
• Fear of public speaking
• Fear of heights
• Fear of snakes or spiders
• Phobias related to blood, needles, or injections
• Claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces)
• Agoraphobia (fear of open spaces)

How many hypnotherapy sessions are needed for phobia?

If you're seeking hypnotherapy for a phobia, you may be wondering how many sessions you'll need. The number of sessions needed will vary from person to person, and depends on the severity of the phobia. In general, most people will need between 3-5 sessions in order to see significant improvement. However, some people may only need one or two sessions, while others may require more.

Regardless of the severity of your phobia, knowing that help is available and effective treatment is possible, can be a great relief for many clients. With commitment and perseverance, you can overcome your anxiety and live a life that is full of positivity rather than curbed by fear.

Hypnotherapy can be an effective treatment for these and other types of fears and anxiety. It works by helping you to relax and then addressing the fear or phobia directly. And by directly addressing the source of the phobia, Hypnotherapy is able to achieve lasting change for many clients.
